about me

so here's the deal

I was gonna write this really nice description of myself that was all professional and corporate. But then I decided not to. Because that's not really me. Instead, here's a little about the real me:

I am spunky, energetic, and peppy. I am unapologetically me in every situation I enter. I am transparent, genuine, forthright, frank, and open. I am bold, decisive, confident, and real. I am authentic in every sense of the word.

I'm proud to be born and raised in the midwest, and I'm a proud graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in Graphic Design. I'm married to my high school sweetheart, and we live with two of our four kids on a pasture-raised poultry farm just north of Lawrence, KS, which is west of Kansas City.

I spent 10+ years working for Callahan, an advertising and marketing agency in Lawrence, KS, in their digital department. The last 6 of those years I specialized in user experience design. In 2018, I decided to go out on my own, creating this UX business, starting a new chapter of my life.

I love UX. It is my passion, and I love to collaborate and consult with others on it. It lights me up and makes my heart sing!

I truly hope we can work together!

Short of sounding like a dating app, here is what makes me happy with all my heart:

My husband (and best friend), my kids, my friends, my siblings, fresh flowers, naps, swimming, rowing, eating healthy, the first sip of coffee every morning, our strawbale house, going to really good restaurants for really good food with my best friends, cheesecake, chips and salsa, driving, meditating, listening to self-help books, the Kansas City Royals, sour beer, binge-watching Friends on Netflix, Lego Movie and Guardians of the Galaxy. It's all so much fun!

and just for fun... you're probably wondering:
where does the name Orange Egg UX come from?

Most of my creative clients can relate to having passions. Like raising chickens is for our family. Eggs are around me all day, everyday here on the farm. I love them. And what’s healthier, more functional, and more perfectly designed than an egg?

Orange represents enthusiasm and happiness, creativity and determination. Orange represents a bold but welcoming confidence that can engage us so instantly and intuitively. Healthy eggs have a bright orange yolk. The two together - orange and egg - create what I think is a healthy, lively relationship.

I always hope the projects I help make better with UX can achieve this natural impact. Not only for the end user – but for the collaborators who helped create it together along the way.
